Chapter Leadership Committee

The Chapter Leadership Committee (CLC) serves as a communication body for all NSA Chapters. NSA appoints past Chapter presidents who serve two-year rotating terms on the CLC as the connection between our national organization and the local chapters.

Chapters are divided into four geographical regions (approximately 10 chapters in each) with a team of four to five consultants assigned to each region. In addition to being available for Chapter leaders within the assigned region, consultants are available to Chapter leaders in other areas as a resource of wisdom and counsel.

The Chapter Leadership Committee has two key functions: to act as a pool of consultants NSA Chapters available to Chapter leadership throughout the country; and to create practical leadership programming for the pre-conference leadership sessions, Convention and Chapter Leadership Institute (formerly Camp NSA).

Chapter consultants are the voice of the Chapters, with a direct line to the NSA Board, as well as a resource for support and advice to Chapter leaders. They are considered ad-hoc members of each Chapter board, as they play an important role in the Chapter’s annual plan.

Department: Membership, Community and Chapter Relations

Purpose: Educate, Support, Communicate – Encourage current and future NSA Chapter leaders; Represent Chapter leadership issues and concerns to the Board; and provide Chapter leadership support through encouraging use of Chapter leadership resources.


Chair: Vice President appoints Vice Chair for two-year term, beginning when the Vice President becomes President-Elect. Vice Chair assumes Chair the following year. (In the event of a vacancy in the Chair, the position is filled by appointment by the Board of Directors. Vice President and Vice Chair appoint chapter consultants for two-year terms, those terms to begin when the Vice President becomes President- Elect.

Vice Chair: Assists the Chair. Vice Chair is chosen from the current group of CLC Consultants.

Consultant: The Chapter Leadership Committee Consultants serve as consultants to chapter leadership throughout the country. They are the voice of the chapters with a direct line to the NSA Board as well as a resource for support and advice to chapter leaders. In addition the consultants create practical leadership programming for the pre-conference leadership sessions for Educational Workshops and Conventions. All CLC Consultants must have served as chapter presidents.

Appointments Made: 90 days prior to the Convention

Expense Policy: Committee members serve at their own expense.
