(TEMPE, Ariz. – July 24, 2012) The National Speakers Association (NSA), the leading organization for professional speakers, presented Stephen Tweed, CSP, with the 2012 Cavett Award at the 2012 NSA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Cavett Award is the highest honor NSA bestows on its members. It is presented annually to a professional speaker whose accomplishments over the years have reflected outstanding credit, respect, honor and admiration on NSA and the speaking profession. The award is named after NSA’s late founder, Cavett Robert, CSP, CPAE, whose illustrious career helped guide and inspire many NSA members.
“Stephen Tweed embodies the generosity and spirit of the founder of the National Speakers Association, Cavett Robert,” said Al Walker, CSP, a past Cavett Award winner. Walker is also a member of the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame and past president of the NSA. “Over the years I have witnessed Stephen’s devotion to our profession and his fellow speaker. His leadership of the NSA Foundation has touched the lives of many both inside and outside of the association, and exemplifies the ethic of service that makes our profession so special. I’m proud to call Stephen a colleague and a friend.”
Tweed is an author, speaker, executive strategist and CEO of Leading Home Care. He is the author of Strategic Focus: A Gameplan for Developing Competitive Advantage, and co-author of two books specifically for the home health care industry. Stephen received his Bachelor’s degree from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and his Master’s degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He is a Past President of NSA and is currently the Chairman of the NSA Foundation, the association’s charitable arm that provides assistance to speakers facing economic challenges related to their health or natural disasters, provides scholarships to college students aspiring toward a speaking career, and supports nonprofits using communications technology to improve service delivery.
